In 1999, Native Desert Plants Nursery was formed to open an internet store selling local (South West Texas) native seeds to the world
with hopes of sharing the desert plant adaption of survival on low water consumption in xeriscaping.
While gathering desert plant seeds for my internet store,
Nativedesertplants.com, my green thumb led me to putting some of them in the ground to grow.
The vigor in which the seeds sprouted and grew led me to studying the green house method of growing plants.
Over the years, we have developed the largest stock of rare nursery grown " Yucca Plants " in Texas.
Many of the succesful ones include the majestic "Great White" ( Yucca faxoniana), Yucca rostrata and Yucca elata of West Texas Big Bend country.
My area in South West Texas is diverse with Yucca torreyi, Yucca rupicola, Yucca treculeana, Yucca thompsoniana, Yucca baccata and several Yucca's that have cross pollinated and do not fit into any catagory.
One thing leading to another, the plants we started by seed in 1999 have grown to a size that was suitable to sell in a retail nursery.
Considering the shorage of water looming in the future and the need for water stingy plants,
we opened a retail outlet,
Yucca Kingdom Nursery, located on six acres in Del Rio, Texas at 1963 US 277 South.
